Why Crusade in 2010?
Monday 1st February 2010
It is that time of year when the silly season ends and the pre-season begins where now tired lazy intoxicated bodies are put through at times gruelling technical and cardio training for the long footy season ahead. As always we are a few of our men down on last year, that is just the nature of football and life itself, but also we will have a bunch of fresh fellas keen on joining our band of brothers in rugby.
If you’re thinking to yourself about adorning the green of the Crusaders you’ll no doubt be going over the pros and cons in your head. If you go on not playing football you will probably spend the year collecting dust (and kilos) on your Saturday afternoons watching Simpson’s episodes that you’ve seen twenty times before, you’ll have your weekday evenings to shuffle off home, you’ll save a bit of money and you won’t injure your perfect solar plexus. Sound convincing? If it does lawn bowls is probably your game anyway.
But if you do take a punt and put your name down, get to a few training sessions you won’t be disappointed. If you do choose to put in some effort you will be duly rewarded. In addition to giving your weekends meaning by living out your competitive streak and keeping yourself in some sort of shape, you’ll inherit a great bunch of mates who will take you in no matter who you are, trust me we’ve got some weird ones.
If you’re umming and ahhing, as us Crusaders all did at one point, get involved, you might make yourself proud.
